Things to Do in Cheshire during February Half Term

Half term is upon us and with winter still very much here, you may be struggling to think of ideas to keep boredom at bay. We have rounded up some of the best events going on in the Cheshire area over February half term.

Coding is Cool!

There seems to be a lot of coding and computer-related events coming up over half term.  Here are a few of the coolest.

Handforth Library has a free coding club on Saturday 18th February at 10.30am.  It is free but booking is essential. Call 01625 378272.

Or you could join MAKE STUFF at Central Library, Stockport for a free day of 3D printing, wearable tech, minecraft, coding, making activites and much more on Saturday 18th February.

What about making a Computer Coding Necklace at Quarry Bank Mill?  This free activity is available from Monday 20th – Friday 24th February. Full details here.

Kids are certain to have fun making a Lego city.

Build a Lego City!

If you have a Lego fan at home, then get them down to Poynton Library for the Lego Holiday Club on Monday 20th February at 2.30pm. They will be building a complete Lego City!

Become a Mad Scientist!

We’ve spotted two great science-related activities this half term.

Knutsford Library has a Science Extravaganza Run by Fun Science on Thursday 23rd February at 2pm. Activities include wow-factor chemical reactions, balloon blowing up the chemical way (!), mini volcanoes, slime making, and making a human circuit. Sounds like fun!

Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre has activities on all through the half term including Reach for the Stars Family Science Show, which is included in the price of admission.  Find out full details here.

Get Crafty!

If arts and crafts are some of your children’s favourite activities, then there is lots to choose from this half term.

You can build a bird box or bird feeder at Delamere Forest.  There are sessions most days so take a look here.

Stockport Museum is running different drop-in craft sessions on Tuesday 21st and Thursday 23rd February from 1-4pm on Level 4.

It’s February and it’s still chilly, so help reflect the season by creating your own Jack Frost snow scene at Macclesfield Silk Museum, with a bit of glitter to make it sparkle! These sessions are running on Thursday 23rd and Friday 24th February and booking is essential.

Get Out and About

If you fancy getting some fresh air, Tatton Park has a Scarecrow Festival on throughout half term and also a Winter Welly Walk on Thursday 23rd February.

So that’s it! Something for everyone in the above selections. We hope you have a great half term and that some of the ideas above will give you inspiration.
