The Magic of Books: An Introduction to Storytelling
What happens in our 6-session reading intervention programme?
- Classes that have been designed to support the teaching of key areas of the Key Stage 1 English Curriculum
- We cover and help develop specific elements such as spoken language and performance, phonics, spelling, reading comprehension and writing in different genres
- We help improve confidence and enthusiasm for learning and develop self-belief
- We teach children to celebrate and learn from their mistakes in reading and writing rather than fear and avoid them
- We educate and engage the class through the use of educational games, magic tricks and puppetry
- Each 6-week programme comes with its own workbook for the children to use - perfect for providing evidence for what your school is doing to tick 'those boxes'
- By the end of the programme the children will have written their own story book
- We can deliver our sessions live and in person or online and virtually

Our purpose at Magic 4 Children is simple, we set out to 'Have a positive impact on the life of every child we interact with'. Our mission with our 'Class Magic' workshops and programmes is 'To teach the class and develop the individual' with our Magic of Books course we will turn your most reluctant readers and self-conscious spellers into confident, determined and enthusiastic book worms!
How do we do it? Simple, we use a bit of M.A.G.I.C......

"My son loved 'celebrating his mistakes'. He was really engaged by Cheeky Monkey and Freddie Fantastic's magic and it really held his attention. I've spoken to other Mums and it sounds like all the other children had fun together and learnt lots too. He really enjoyed reading the story the class wrote together and was keen to do it on his own. It was really nice to see that he didn’t panic when he couldn’t read something. In similar situations in lessons at school we have had tears. Freddie Fantastic was great with encouragement and not making the children feel rushed."

Our 6-lesson programme structure:
- Week 1 - BIG 3
- Week 2 - BIG 3
- Week 3 - BIG 3
- Week 4 - BIG 3
- Week 5 - BIG 3
- Week 6 - BIG 3

We want to help you to help your students feel confident in the classroom, to feel safe making mistakes and to progress and develop academically and emotionally. We see our 'Class Magic' reading programmes being the mortar that schools can use to help build and develop the academic foundations of their students in Key Stage 1 and encourage the children who may be falling behind or who simply need that extra bit of time, attention and encouragement to fall in love with reading, writing and learning. Not all students learn and retain information in the same ways and teachers face a mammoth task making sure that no child is left behind. Through the use of Magic tricks, comedy, games, puppetry and a carefully structured 6-lesson programme we support your mission in improving reading comprehension, writing, story structure, performance, spoken language and phonics in a way that your pupils may never have seen before and in a way that is guaranteed to ignite their imagination and have them reaching for a good book in no time!

"I wanted to say a huge "thank you" for your fantastic reading programme at our pre-school. The children were spell-bound by your performances - it was perfect 'edutainment' for our two to four year olds (and the staff loved it too)!"

"BIG BIG THANK YOU from all the children and teachers. We have had a great time with your 'Class Magic' programmes. The children are still talking about how funny Cheeky Monkey is and they are now so excited to practice their reading."
